Kaveh Shirzad is a political activist, civil engineer, former political prisoner, and one of the directors of Shahrvanyar Institute in France. His four brothers were political prisoners in the sixties. His older brother, Reza Shirzadian, who was arrested at the age of fifteen, died after serving nine years in prison, and the details of his death remain unclear. The mother of this political activist was imprisoned and tortured many times for protesting her son’s condition and shouting slogans against the authorities of the Islamic Republic. Kaveh Shirzad’s mother contracted tuberculosis during her last detention in Qom prison, and died shortly after due to the deprivation of treatment.
